Ballito Activities Whats On - Microlight Flights Ballito Surf Lessons - Monkeybay Backpackers

With miles of beautiful beaches at hand, sure, there's plenty of great surf and sunbathing spots to choose from... but there's more to Ballito than surf and sand!

For a start there's a host of great cafes, restaurants, bars and shopping centres.

There's the awesome Crocodile Creek, giving you a chance to get up close and personal with some Crocodiles.

How about a Microlight flight over Ballito's sugar cane fields and golden beaches - truly an amazing experience with a chance of seeing it all with a bird's eye view... and you never know, you may even spot a Turtle, Whale or Dolphins swimming in the clear azure ocean.

Of course, being coastal there's often a good cross-on-shore breeze, which makes for ideal Kite Surfing territory.
Monkeybay can organise local Kitesurfing lessons for you, from IKO Qualified Instructors, and whether a beginner or more experienced, there's something for you.
There's also a great, flat-water lagoon not far away for beginner courses.
A full IKO course may last up to week and will have you happily kitesurfing by the end.

For some culture, there's a fabulous museum 10 minutes away that's well worth a visit!

Ballito is also very well placed for visiting neighbouring hot spots, like Durban and Umhlanga with both only being 30 and 20 mintues away, by car, respectively.

Of course, heading north or inand, not far away you've got the beautiful Midlands Meandor and Drakensburg Mountains, as well as Big 5 National Parks, where you'll find some of Africa's most majestic animals.

There's too much to mention here, so get down to MONKEY BAY BACKPACKERS, chat to the owner and get solid, sound, tailor-made advice and tips.

Monkeybay can help arrange all your adventures for you and may get special rate in some instances.

Durban Activities - Whats On Durban - Ushaka Marine World

Durban has to be South Africa's most cosmopolitan &, arguably, exciting city.

Check out the Golden Mile with its Miami-like beaches.
Here you find a miriad of wonderful African traders, showing their wares and offering great gift ideas.

As a near constant, there's all manner of promenade and beach centered activities including surfing, paddle-skiing, kayaking, sailing, swimming, jogging, skate-boarding, roller-blading, cycling... you name it.
... and with a great Police presence all around, you can really relax & feel safe.

How about renting a bike on the beach or taking a famous Rickshaw ride along the prom. Uber-cool! Again, there's a great deal more to Durb's than the beach.

Culturely, there's museums, art galleries and live music all over the place including the superb, international standard, Jazz events at the KZN University in the city.

Wonderfully culturely diverse, you'll find excellent food in all guises to suit all pallets and budgets.

There's the famous Bunny Chow, for starters, that notoriously should be eaten at night, off the bonnet of your car & shared with friends - messy & fabulous.

From excellent steak and seafood houses, South African and African Restaurants to Indian, Mexican and Oriental - it's all here and it's all good!

Have a dig around the tree-lined suburbs, where you'll find cafes with wonderful, healthly, fresh food, parks, a zoo and the Botanic Gardens, colourful art galleries and interesting bars, often with their own live music.

Durban also houses a superb Aquarium and Theme Park called UShaka, which can be easily found on the beach front.
There's masses on offer here, with a great water slide park, Dolphin show, interesting shops, a vibrant African theme, super restaurants of all types and much more.

Durban city central is also well worth a visit, with guidance, and here you'll experience an authentic, colourful array of shops, interesting sights and people.

A visit to Kwazulu Natal just wouldnt be the same without checking out Durban... you'll simply love it!
